I sit down at the computer after ignoring Ruben for the last 20 minutes as he put himself to sleep for nap. He's fallen asleep by himself before, but not really. When he was 9 and 10 months old we would try to let him cry it out and he would participate until he threw up. We gave up that route because who really volunteers to clean up puke. Then when I cold-turkeyed him from nursing, we started walking him to sleep. That slowly turned into reading him to sleep, but now books are too engaging so we're back around to crying it out. Currently the kids share a room, so I'm not usually patient enough to let Ruben cry it out when June is obviously more tired and ready to fall asleep. So today when Karl said he was going to take June to work with him so she can help with a construction project (more on that later), I decided it was time. I needed to see if he could do it. Now that I know he can, I'm much more apt to tell him he has to.
